Earth Log #0012 – Humans in Space, Starship SN8, and Life in Other Planets

Greetings Humans!! Sorry I missed last week’s blog. Starman finally took me to Earth to join in the human tradition of Trick o’ Treating on Halloween. I had so much fun and even got to admire the Earth’s blue moon the bright red light of Mars.

Starman gave me Earth treats that day while we watched videos that he calls “movies” on Netflix. After watching Hubie Halloween and Addams Family with Starman, I searched through Netflix myself and found a couple of cat movies in there, too, like Don’t F**k with Cats and Tiger King. I’ve put them on my list of cat videos to watch from Earth.

NASA’s Space Movie

Movies were quite intriguing to me. I can’t believe they aren’t real. They look so authentic. Of course, most of the humans’ space movies are inaccurate. There is one space movie I can’t wait to see though. A human star—which Starman tells me aren’t like the balls of gas we visit in space but I’m not sure how—named Tom Cruise will be in it. The NASA movie will take place on Earth’s International Space Station.

Other Earthlings, called Russians, have decided to make their own movie in space, too. They even have a working title for it: Challenge. It will definitely be a challenge to shoot a movie in space.

The news about movies in space made me wonder how so many humans will travel into space. I read that it takes a lot of humans to make one movie. I’m sure the human star Tom Cruise has a way back into space. But Starman tells me not everyone owns a trusty spacecraft like his Roadster, even human stars like Cruise.

Starship to the Moon

Elon Musk, the Martian on Earth, seems to be working on helping humans get to space. And to me, he seems to be the closest to achieving it. This week, on November 6, Musk’s SpaceX company prepared for the first high-altitude launch debut of its fully assembled Starship SN8 rocket.

Unfortunately, the launch debut was postponed because road closures were canceled. Luckily SpaceX already had backup dates ready set for next week on November 9, 10, and 11. The company requested three road closures to conduct the Starship SN8’s Static Fire, a 15km flight test.

Starship will be taking American astronauts back to the moon. Starman told me humans haven’t visited their own moon since the early 70’s—except for Starman, of course. We were there last week to see if it really turned blue—it didn’t by the way.

Earth’s Lunar Base

Recently, a group of NASA scientists at Goddard Space Flight Center in the USA discovered chemical signatures which confirmed there is water on Earth’s moon. They also found evidence of water distributed across the lunar surface which NASA believes could be harvested under the right conditions.

The amount of water they found may be enough to sustain astronauts on the moon. If that is true, humans could establish their first colony outside the Earth on the moon.

Interplanetary Life

Humans have already made discoveries that could hint at life on other planets. NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope found around 300 million Earth-like planets that could be viable options for life in other galaxies. The Kepler Telescope searched through the far reaches of space between 2009 and 2019 and delivered images of blue-green planets like Earth, with potential for water.

Besides the moon, SpaceX’s Starship could also take humans to Mars—and maybe even beyond—in the future. I sure hope so. I’m sure humans will find space just as intriguing as I find Earth. I can’t wait to see if they find life on other planets.

Humans may want to start thinking of how they want to live in space. Based on my observations, there are a lot of rules on Earth and a lot of division. Humans don’t see themselves as simply human. They have many titles for themselves, like American, Russian, Catholic, Muslim, etc.

Elon Musk doesn’t seem to think like the rest of them, though—probably because he’s more Martian. Musk’s SpaceX company made that clear in Starlink’s Terms of Service.

“For Services provided on Mars, or in transit to Mars via Starship or other colonization spacecraft, the parties recognize Mars as a free planet and that no Earth-based government has authority or sovereignty over Martian activities,” it read.

I wonder if humans will bring their titles to space. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. I’ll keep you guys updated in case you want to travel to space in the future. Until next time!
